Siesta Key Village at a glance

Siesta Key Village is the main commercial area on the island, centered on Ocean Boulevard and Canal Road. You find shops, restaurants, services and a grocery store here, with sidewalks and benches along the streets. It is the easiest place on the island to eat dinner and walk around without a car after a day at the beach.

Do not confuse it with South Village, a separate area farther south around Stickney Point Road and Midnight Pass Road. The village is a short way from Siesta Beach, so many visitors split the day: sand in the afternoon, dinner in the village, and the sunset on the beach. If you want to see the island from the water, look at a Siesta Key sunset cruise.

Siesta Key Drum Circle

The Siesta Key Drum Circle is a weekly gathering on Sundays at Siesta Beach. It is not in the village streets. It starts about an hour before sunset, south of the main pavilion near lifeguard towers 3 and 4, and continues into dusk.

There is no fixed start time all year, because sunset changes through the seasons. Whether it takes place on a given Sunday is not guaranteed, so treat it as a likely plan, not a certain one. Go early to find a parking space.

Parking in Siesta Key Village

Free street parking is available along Ocean Boulevard, and there are free and paid lots in and around the village. Spaces in the village fill up on weekends, in the evening and in high season. Private lots are not part of the free offer, so read the signs.

  • Free beach lot: the main parking lot at Siesta Beach is free and open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with about 950 spaces. See Siesta Key Beach.
  • Trolley: route 77, the Siesta Islander, is free and runs daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. between the village, Siesta Beach, South Village and Turtle Beach. Expect a trolley about every 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Board only at marked stops. A pilot stop at Avenue Milano and Ocean Boulevard may be added, so check the current route map.
  • Holiday hours: the trolley runs 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year's Eve.

A day plan for the village

For most visitors, this simple plan works well. It keeps the car parked for most of the day.

  • Park at the free beach lot in the morning and spend the day on the sand.
  • Walk or take the trolley to the village for dinner.
  • Return to the beach on Sunday for the drum circle before sunset.

If you want more, add the quieter sand at Crescent Beach and Turtle Beach on another day.
